LII’s boutique eco-resort collection will showcase sustainable, peaceful, purposeful living, in true partnership with Mother Nature. Set in the food forests and treetops, beside still lagoons and floating above coral reefs, LII’s exquisitely designed range of luxury tents, yurts, tree houses, bio-domes and water chalets will make it impossible not to fall in love with life deep in nature.
Guests will be welcome to move between the eco-resorts, dipping in and out of workshops, fire-side discussions and activities that are based around self-mastery and purposeful living, led by globally renowned thought-leaders, spiritual masters and tribal elders.
The LII brand will become synonymous with ‘natural luxury’: a concept that merges exquisite design taste with completely natural and sustainable elements. Although the Leadership Islands will attract many Ultra High Net Worth individuals, celebrities and global dignitaries it will not become a private play ground for the super rich. Every year the company will offer thousands of grant placements with 50-80% discounts and 100% sponsorship for special guests from disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring that the world’s most invaluable change-makers all have the opportunity to experience the magic of the Leadership Islands.
The first eco-resort in our collection will be Gandhi, with safari-style luxury tents and tipis. Gandhi gave us many insights, not least his advice to ‘become the change we wish to see in the world’. It seems fitting then to begin our eco-resort collection with this philosophy, and with the guiding principle of compassion.
LII will attract global change-makers, thought-leaders, innovators, social entrepreneurs, responsible leaders, spiritual masters, tribal elders and conscious travelers from all walks of life who share our passion for becoming the change we wish to see in the world.
Because it is our highest priority to protect and preserve the islands in their natural state we cannot support a model of mass tourism. Similar to Bhutan’s ‘high value, low impact’ philosophy we will limit the number of annual visitors and invitation only. Invitations will not be based on personal wealth but on demonstrated environmental and social contributions.
Prices will range from 25,000 USD for private island venues to 100% sponsored placements for our special guests from disadvantaged backgrounds. LII is committed to ensuring that all change makers, from all walks of life, are able to visit the Leadership Islands.
The marine-based activities will be a highlight for many guests. Before diving, guests will meet our marine biologists to learn about the many critically endangered species in these waters and how they can participate in our conservation programs. Guests can also swim and canoe between the islands and around the lagoons or snorkel above our 100 Ha coral reefs. Lunch out at sea aboard our sailboat with dolphins and whales passing by will be very special, whilst more adventurous guests can enjoy kite surfing, windsurfing, free diving and night diving. Our natural parkour and zip-wire routes around the islands will be both fun and challenging for people of all ages and abilities.
LII will host a range of Radical Positive Impact events alongside brilliant partners that we hope will include TED, Davos, Summit, Ashoka and the Global Climate Change Conference. Many of our activities will include workshops, talks and performances by world-renowned artists and experts on a wide range of topics related to self-mastery and purposeful living. Short and long retreats will be available as well as daily classes in meditation, yoga, aikido, qigong and art. LII’s personnel will be from tribes and cultures from across the Indonesian archipelago and around the world. Guests will be welcome to join authentic spiritual ceremonies and celebrations.
Guided tours of our food forests led by tribal medicine men will be fascinating for those interested in holistic healing and permaculture. Our experts will show guests around the eco-farms, solar farms and fisheries, explaining as they go the damaging effect of the mass food industry and why subsistence farming and plant-based diets are an ideal solution.
LII’s kids club will involve tailored activities led by child-care professionals including: kids meditation, yoga and qigong, art, pottery, food forest walks, zip-wire and natural parkour.
The mass food industry is horrific in terms of damage to the environment, cruelty to animals and the effects on our health and wellbeing (for a deeper insight watch ‘Earthlings’ and ‘Folks Over Knives’). Given that it is our desire to inspire sustainable living it does not make sense to import our food and therein incur a massive carbon footprint. Instead, we will be growing almost 100% of our food and produce on our island eco-farms and food forests.
Our permaculture experts will be helping us to grow completely organic foods and top chefs from around the world will showcase delicious and mainly plant-based menus. Our farm-reared animals and small-scale fisheries will be open for guests to learn about responsible farming. Our limited supply of meat and fish will be balanced to the sustainable capabilities of our precious eco-systems. Guests are welcome to join our ibus (village mums) in the kitchens and blend natural jamus (tonics) after tours through our food forests, led by local medicine men.
